Este problema ya interesaba a los griegos, apasionados de la geometr\u00eda, pero no pudieron darle soluci\u00f3n. Muchos fueron los intentos posteriores por conseguir resolverlo, hasta que ya en el a\u00f1o 1882, el matem\u00e1tico alem\u00e1n Ferdinand Lindemann demostr\u00f3 que \u03c0 era un n\u00famero trascendental, lo que implica que la cuadratura del c\u00edrculo es imposible.
